Chris Davies set for Toughest Assignment Yet.
It was announced here today in Abu Dhabi, UAE, at the concluding
round to the 2001 Championship, that Chris Davies, the ÔOfficial
Formula One PhotographerÕ has decided to take a years sabbatical
from the Formula One World Championship.
After a relaxed and friendly conversation with the UIM Promoter,
Nicolo di San Germano, Chris has decided to hang up his camera strap
for a while to concentrate on looking after his new son Cameron.
ÒWhen I saw the calendar for the 2002 season, I knew I would be
away from home for several weeksÓ commented Chris. ÒThough I will
no doubt miss the circus, my priority now is looking after my new
sonÓ.
Chris joined the series back in 1992 at the French Grand Prix,
held in Chalon-sur-Saone and has subsequently photographed 90 Grand
Prix. Over the course of ten seasons his work has been published
world-wide in various magazines, books, and newspapers, more recently
it has appeared on many race teams web-sites. Since 1997 he has
been the main contributor to the ÔOfficial F1 YearbookÕ and took
over the role of Editor for the last two editions.
ÒFormula One is a big familyÓ commented Nicolo di San Germano.
ÒWe will all miss Chris while he is away from us during 2002, but
I look forward to making him, his camera and friendly smile welcome,
when he decides the time is right to return to Formula OneÓ.
ÒFinallyÓ said Chris ÒI would like to take this opportunity to
thank my good friend Nicolo for all his support over the years,
along with David Parkinson for giving me my initial brake into this
great sportÓ.
