GAISER IS OPERATED IN AUSTRIA
Brazilian suffered a fracture on his face during the race for
the World Championship of F1 Powerboat on Sunday and will stay in
the hospital for two weeks.
The pilot is well. Paul Gaiser, from Team Petrobras F1 Powerboat,
will stay in the Lorenz-Bohler Hospital, in Vienna, for the next
two weeks. The Brazilian suffered an accident last Sunday during
the eigth stage of the World Championship of F1 Powerboat, that
took place in the Danube River, in Vienna.
Because of the rain and wind, Gaiser’s boat flew at about 150 km/h.
With the impact on the water the Brazilian crashed against the cockpit’s
lid, hurting his face. In less than 30 seconds, Gaiser received
first aid from the English Osprey rescue team, specialized in salvage
in Powerboat competitions and was taken immediately to the hospital
in a helicopter.
The Brazilian had a Cat Scan taken and no serious injury revealed
was in his head. Gaiser suffered a cut on his head, injured seriously
his jaw and had fractures on his face, being operated by especialist
right away. Even though his face is very swollen, the pilot is conscious.
“I don’t remeber exactaly what happened. When I got out of the water
my only worry was to tell my family that I was ok”, commented Gaiser,
who will be receiving support from his sister Marta, who lives in
Germany.
The Austrian GP of F1 Powerboat was won by the Italian Francesco
Cantando, followed by Victor Kunitch, form Latvia and Jari Honkala,
from Sweden. The next stage of the World Championship will be
on October 19th , in Sharjah / United Arab Emirates.
