Sharjah, October 2001-10-10
Nicolo di San Germano, UIM F1 promoter , in agreement with the teams
and organisers of the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix decided to postpone
the race planned originally for December 16 to a date to be announced
after the Monte Carlo UIM Council General meeting that will ratify
the appointment of the new Brazilian powerboat confederation.
Interviewed by the media attending the Sharjah Grand Prix, Nicolo
di San Germano explained that in over 20 years of involvement in
the organisation of sports events it was the first time he had to
face a situation in which the persons supposed to encourage and
help promoting their event acted against their own sport. Nicolo
di San Germano added that in Monte Carlo, after the ratification
of the appointment of the new Brazilian powerboat confederation
we would be able to confirm the event in Brazil but for obvious
reasons it was impossible to organise the race in Abu Dhabi without
knowing if it was the last race of the season or not as there were
still 3 drivers competing for the world title.
