Portimao, Portugal (6th April) – Multi time World Champion and head of the MM Power Race Team from Cologne, Germany announced today that have come to an agreement to bring many time North American Champion Michael Seebold to their two boat team line-up for the 2002 U.I.M. F1 World Championship season.

Seebold, a native of St. Louis, Missouri in the USA, returns to the world tour after last running in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 1994. The 40 year-old first started racing at the age of 14 in the Kitson craft and Sport G classes and moved up to larger classes under the guidance of his father Bill, who had over 700 wins and a myriad of World and American championships in his 50 plus years of racing.

The three generation family of tunnel boat racing is the most famous named family in the sport in world racing. Michael, who is a 7 time National Champion and a 2 time World Champion on his own, last won the North American Prop Tour championship a few y ears ago. Hel also has championships in the SST-120 class in 1978 and 1979 and was the youngest driver ever to win the Paris Six Hour race at the age of 19 in 1979.

The last two years he raced in both North America and on the World Tour was in 1987 and 1988. Michael finished 2nd in both series and finished only 2nd to his father Bill in these two campaigns.

Michael is expected to bring his own new composite designed Seebold hull by plane to Europe in the next 10 days and be ready in time to run with the Michael Werner MM Power Team along with expected teammate Rupp Temper from Austria for the opening round of the championship in Portimao in Portugal on the 28th of April.

The 6-time winner of the St. Louis Grand Prix returns the great Seebold name to the world theatre and is expected to challenge current World Champion Guido Cappellini and Francesco Cantando of Italy along with fellow American Scott Gillman for the 2002 world title. Only time will tell whether the Seebold fire and determination will change the face of the U.I.M. F1 World Championship stage for 2002.
