BRUSSELS APPEALS COURT TO HEAR CANTANDO-PHARAON CASE
Abu Dhabi, Thursday, May 22, 2003 - In a rare court action, Italian UIM F1
Powerboat driver Francesco Cantando, (Team Singha F1) is challenging a protest
filed by driver Saudi Arabian Laith Pharaon, (Team Green) in a UIM Appeals
Court in Brussels (Belgium).
The hearing will take place Saturday May 24, 2003.
It follows a protest lodged by Pharaon when officials disqualified Cantando
after he had clinched second place in the opening round of the 2003 UIM World
F1 Championship in Portimao (Portugal).
The UIM Appeals Court decision could affect the overall Championship points
standing.
The 15 points that Cantando had won in 2nd place were transferred
to Comparato as a result of Pharaon's protest.
