SELIO NOT SHORT ON CONFIDENCE FOR TITLE RUN !
EMIRATES TEAM WANTS TO MAKE UP FOR ABU DHABI !!

SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates - 12th of December, 2007 – The “Finnish Flyer” Sami Selio has been waiting all 9 of his U.I.M. F1 World Championship race years to reach this point, winning a world title. Starting tomorrow afternoon he will take the first of two steps to reach his goal when drivers from 4 different continents take to the Khalid Lagoon for the battle for pole position and the starting line-up for Friday's 8th Annual Grand Prix of Sharjah.

“I am really proud of my crew and what they have done in these past few weeks,” stated Sami. “After our problems in Qualifying in Doha, first with the subsequent crash in the top-6 shootout on the 23rd of November and then with Cappellini on the 26th of November for the next round, we had to work around the clock to get my boat back to 100% condition. Now we are ready for the title chase and have nothing but confidence we can get the job done.”

Meanwhile, done the paddock about 30 meters is the Emirates Team led by lead driver Thani Al Qamzi who has just one mission this weekend, win! “I'm going to do my best to repeat what I did here a year ago when I won from the pole position,” stated the Abu Dhabi native. “The championship dream is over for this year, but I still have plans to finish 2nd with a victory and that is our goal this weekend. Not bad for a team that had no points after the first two races of the season.”

The Italian Guido Cappellini who has a 16 point lead on Selio needs just to finish 6th or higher to take the title outright, but has had his troubles here before having finished just once with a victory in 2005 out of the last 4 races here.

While the Como, Italy native will be in “cruise” mode to take his 10th title in his 18 years of racing on the tour, others will be pushing hard to make impressions before the close of the 2007 campaign.

Jay Price of the Qatar Team sitting 6th in the championship with 32 points still has a shot of finishing as high as 4th with a win after finishing the last two races in a row after failing to finish the previous three.

Meanwhile, Swedish driver Pierre Lundin of the Comparato Team is completing a very successful 2nd half of the season with a pair of 3rd's and a 4th in his last 3 starts and now has jumped to 4th in the championship with 47 points.

The field of 25 drivers will enjoy perfect weather at this lovely city of Sharjah and the final round of the 2007 U.I.M. F1 World Championship. Both Sami Selio and Gudio Cappellini have done well in the Khalid Lagoon but this weeks race will be Selio's biggest. He hasn't shown the tension yet of what it will all mean should he win and Cappellini fail to make the top-6 to take the title. The Grand Prix of Sharjah will take place on Friday the 14th of December and will be one of the most historic in the 26 year history of the sport, stay tuned.
