great potential to achieve maximum success in the 1999 Series.
The Sport
Within the sport of Powerboat racing
Fl is the pinnacle of all powerboat drivers ambition. Drivers compete
in races across Europe, Asia, Middle & Far East for the coveted
title of World Champion. Racing on Rivers, Lakes and sheltered Sea
bays 22 boats producing 280 bhp each, this truly is an awesome sight.
The Audience
Each Formula 1 race is held at a
premier venue as close as possible to major city centres. In 1999
some races will have a spectator audience in excess of 200,000 people.
Every Fl round has a guaranteed TV coverage including satellite
providers which is distributed Internationally reaching a world-wide

The Support
The team consists of 2 Drivers, 1
Team Manager, 8 Mechanics, 1 Truck and trailer, support van and
pit bikes. As you can imagine transportation of the boats and team
members around Europe and Overseas can be a very costly part of
the teams budget.
The Boats
The boats are of a catamaran type (
sometimes known as tunnel boats
) made
of marine ply and composite or frilly composite with a safety cell
of which the driver is strapped into. The intention is to drive
with as little of the boat in the water as possible to gain maximum
speed ( known
as propriding) only trimming in the boat at each turn which acts
as a brake and the trimming out
as you come out of the turn
to regain speed. The Boats are
propelled by a single Mercury 2 Litre EFI engine producing 280 bhp.
Various Propellers are used
depending on course and weather conditions.
Sponsorship
Various Sponsorship packages are
available for either single races or a full season. Costs range
from as little as $5000 to $200,000 for full sponsorship of both
boats for complete season. (A fraction of the cost of F1 Cars).
